MATCP Joins Protect MI Care Coalition
More than 2.6 million Michiganders – 1 in 4 people in our state – depend on Medicaid for essential care. MATCP has joined the Protect MI Care coalition to move forward to defend Medicaid as a united front.
If Congress enacts proposed Medicaid cuts, every Michigander will feel the impact, not just Medicaid recipients, because if a hospital or clinic closes or a job is lost, everyone will bear the weight of those changes.
Medicaid provides mental health and substance use treatment services that address the root causes of crime. Medicaid funds hospital-based violence intervention services to prevent retaliatory violence. Medicaid provides reentry healthcare as people come home from prison and jail. Medicaid is public safety.
We’ve joined the Protect MI Care Coalition to defend Michigan’s health care system from devastating federal Medicaid cuts that threaten the well-being of our communities and the strength of our economy.
