Melissa FitzgeraldMelissa Fitzgerald joined Justice For Vets as its new Senior Director in 2013. As an actor, Melissa is best known for her seven-year role as Carol on the television series The West Wing, but off-screen she is widely recognized as a courageous advocate for people in need. She is co-founder of Voices in Harmony, a non-profit mentoring organization that uses theater to work with underserved teens in Los Angeles. In 2007, Melissa traveled to war-torn Northern Uganda to bring the Voices in Harmony theater program to former abducted child soldiers and other teenagers affected by the region’s brutal rebel war resulting in the award-winning documentary, After Kony-Staging Hope. In 2011, Melissa co-executive produced Halfway Home, a documentary featuring Vietnam War veteran and former U.S. Senator Max Cleland and Silver Star recipient and Iraq War veteran, Sgt. Tommy Rieman. Melissa has written pieces published in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Huffington Post, in addition to the book The Enough Moment by John Prendergast and Don Cheadle. She has made numerous media appearances on behalf of Justice For Vets including appearances on Hardball with Chris Matthews, CBS Sunday Morning, and Morning Joe.
Terrence WaltonTerrence D. Walton, Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the National Association of Drug Court Professionals (NADCP), is among the nation’s leading experts in providing training and technical assistance to drug courts and other problem solving courts. Prior to being named COO in October 2015, Terrence Walton was the NADCP Chief of Standards. In addition to being responsible for the daily operation of NADCP and planning the national conference, he retains his responsibility for establishing and implementing best practice standards nationwide. Previously, Terrence Walton was Director of Treatment for the Pretrial Services Agency for the District of Columbia (PSA), in Washington, D.C.

Justice Joan L. LarsenJustice Joan L. Larsen joined the Michigan Supreme Court in the fall of 2015. Before assuming office, she served on the faculty of the University of Michigan Law School, where she was also special counsel to the dean. An award-winning legal scholar and former law clerk for the late U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, Justice Larsen taught for more than a decade at the University of Michigan, where she received the L. Hart Wright Award for Excellence in Teaching. She currently serves as the Michigan Supreme Court liaison to problem-solving courts.
Carolyn HardinAs the Chief of Training and Research with the National Association of Drug Court Professionals, Ms. Hardin oversees the daily operations for NADCP’s three divisions: National Drug Court Institute, National Center for DWI Courts and Justice For Vets. The National Association of Drug Court Professionals (NADCP)is a non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Washington, D.C. , and the development and implementation of training for the Organization. She currently travels nationally and internationally assisting drug court teams with planning and operating successful drug court.
Corey WallerR. Corey Waller MD, MS is an addiction, pain, and emergency medicine specialist in Grand Rapids, MI, working within the Spectrum Health system, a fully integrated health system with 11 hospitals and over 1000 employed physicians. He is the Medical Director of the Spectrum Health Medical Group Center for Integrative Medicine, the Medical Staff Chief of Pain Medicine to the Spectrum Health Hospital System, the President of the Michigan Society of Addiction Medicine, as well as SUD Medical Director at Lakeshore Regional Partners (Community Mental Health-Region 3). Dr. Waller is the principal author of Michigan’s Medication Assisted Treatment Guidelines for Opiod Use Disorders.

Scholarships
This year MATCP is offering scholarships for multiple disciplines. Deadline for submission is February 12, 2016. Recipients will be notified of their awards by February 20, 2016 and assigned a registration code with instructions to register before March 1, 2016. If you do apply for a scholarship, please do not register until you are notified of the status of your award. Please complete this online form to be considered for a scholarship.
Continuing Education Credit
This conference will qualify for 12 and 3/4 hours towards Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP) continuing education. Social Work CEU approval has been confirmed for 9 credits.
Note to SCAO Funded Treatment Courts
As long as the MATCP conference registration expense is listed on the courts' FY 2016 approved budget, jurisdictions approved for grant funding from SCAO drug court grants may seek reimbursement for registration costs for up to three drug court team members to attend this conference. Travel, hotel and meal reimbursement for the conference will not be covered by grant funds.
